Combined Efforts = Continued Success

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Working together, members and supporters of PTPI have provided hundreds of thousands of School Supply Kits and other items to children in parts of the world such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and the Philippines.  And we’ve been doing so for years!  Here’s news of our most recent combined efforts on behalf of Operation International Children (OIC):

After spending two days collecting donations from members of the community to purchase supplies, our Greater Princeton, New Jersey Student Chapter partnered with our Trenton, New Jersey Community Chapter to assemble more than 400 School Supply Kits, which were shipped to the OIC Warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri.  From there, they will be shipped overseas for distribution by coalition troops.

In Kansas City, for Global Youth Service Day, 75 volunteers donated their talents and their Sunday morning to working in the OIC warehouse.  Actor Gary Sinise (co-founder of OIC) and Congressman Ike Skelton stopped by to lend a hand and the day’s work resulted in the assembly of 3,720 kits!

Later that evening, Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band took to the stage at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City to perform a benefit concert for OIC.

Lt. Dan is Headed to Kansas City

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Familiar to many as Mac Taylor of CSI: NY or Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump, actor Gary Sinise has two ongoing roles that he may be less known for: co-founder of the nonprofit program Operation International Children (OIC) and bass player in the Lt. Dan Band.  Residents of Kansas City will soon have the opportunity to see Sinise the philanthropist and musician on stage when he comes to town on April 25, 2010 to perform at the Uptown Theater.
