Name: Lars Poignant
Title: Managing Director of European Operations
Start Date at PTPI: February, 1997
1. Where were you born?
Norrkoping, Sweden
2. If you could pick one person in history to have lunch with, who would it be?
Jean Monnet, cheif architect of the European unity. How did you think it would work out?
3. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
It took me awhile to appreciate Italy, but it is really a country worth visiting. There are plenty of historical remains, good food and wine. And…people work to live! Not the other way around.
4. Are there any words you live by?
See above: Work to live. I fear that too many of us live to work.
5. Favorite movie?
The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman. It is from 1957 and of course in black-white. It is about medieval Sweden and how a knight searches for the Truth. He meets plague-suffering locals and more importantly has an extraordinary dialogue and chess game with the Death. See it. Or even better – learn Swedish and then see it!

Well well! Berlin- how fantastic. I visit regularly in the Hauptstadt with friends in Mahlsdorf. I’d like to come see the offices sometime. Our delegates need to come see this grand city sometime.
your friend
Tom C.
Dear Tom,
Welcome to the Hauptstadt. Of course you can and should come to the office. It is in Charlottenburg and always (within normal working days’ limits) open. We would update you on our most current programs and chapters in Europe. If you come at lunch, we will then visit one of the small restaurants around the corner. If you come in the afternoon, we will we have a coffee at the family run coffee shop across the street. Hope to see you. /Lars
Really enjoyed your “5 Minutes” Lars! Especially #3 (YES Italy) & #4. An excellent reminder for all! Thanks & see you in April!
Lars, I love the quote “work to live not live to work”— it is a great moto to live life by.
