Name: Brent Jensen
Title: Coordinator, Community/University Chapters
Start Date at PTPI: October, 2010
Where all have you lived in the world?
I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but have also lived in Des Moines, Iowa, Charleston, South Carolina and now Kansas City, Missouri.
What has been your favorite travel experience?
One of my favorite travel experiences was New Zealand. My wife and I spent two weeks traveling around both the North and South Islands. The best experience of the trip came when we spent the night in a hiking lodge at Milford Sound and woke up early the next morning to kayak through the fjord. It ended up pouring rain that day, which created hundreds of waterfalls. Since buses only arrive once a day there were no tourists around. It was extremely peaceful and otherworldly as we kayaked past dolphins, penguins and seals.
If you could pick one superhero power, what would it be?
Flying would be cool. I could travel the world without having to wait in line at security.
Mountains or beach?
Mountains. They are beautiful, offer fun activities year round and I can be pasty white and no one has to know!
If you could pick anywhere in the world to volunteer for a year, where would it be?
India. The diverse country and culture is fascinating to me and after reading David Gregory Roberts’ Shantaram, I am itching to go.
What is your favorite song?
Tough call. I am always searching for something new, but I will go with a staple and say The Decemberists’ Crane Wife 1&2.
If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be?
I am weird and do not like ice cream, therefore I wouldn’t want to be any flavor… otherwise I wouldn’t like myself very much!
